13.5 lb baby born naturally!?

How big is too big when it comes to birthing babies?  These days you'd think women have acheived some impossible feat if their babies weigh more than even 8 pounds.  But it hasn't always been this way.  Back before induction, ultrasounds and scheduled cesareans, what we consider 'big' babies were actually typical weight.  In fact, if the baby were less than 8 pounds or so, people would wonder if something was wrong.

While their might be some extra considerations when birthing 'big' babies, I hope for the day when 'big' becomes 'typical' again.
